Purpose & Goal

In 2002, Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church responded to the needs of the congregation and community by founding the Sinai Family Life Center (SFLC) as its primary social service outreach effort and commissioning it to imitate Jesus—meet people where they are and lift them to the level of their capacity.

Mission

The official mission of SFLC is to provide vital social services that will enable residents to live healthy, productive, positive and purposefully directed lives.

Target Population

Sinai Family Life Center serves the entire Metro East urban area, however its primary focus is on the Winstanley Park Neighborhood. East St. Louis has 27,006 residents, 39% (almost half) of whom live in poverty. SFLC provides diverse services to meet the needs of this underprivileged city and the surrounding communities. Women, children and seniors are targeted, but not exclusively so. All individuals, families and groups in the targeted geographical area are eligible for the Center's services (if they meet program guidelines).
